I am surprise to see some obscene words found in your site. The bad words such as: censored; censored-all; asshole; ass should not be in the literary great works such as your site. By the way, the word: ASS should only mean a donkey, nothing should be meant a anus - part of human body. The English dictionary didn't include that meaning (although you have translated those obsence words correctly in Chinese; it is no place in the site. It is not only confuse people; but to teach those who are "innocent" some bad words in English. People who depends on your site to "learn" the correct English only later on found themselves had learned some very bad words - an embarassing situation. Please evaluation my comment seriously. Thanks for the great effort !

I have the following suggestion to make your site more popular: You should consider creating a client app (front end) that runs on a user's machine. Why? Consider how many steps it takes to look up the definition of a word (E-C). I first have to launch a browser. Wait for it to load. Type in your URL (okay, maybe the URL is stored in my favorites list so I don't have to type), then enter the word that I'm looking for. Great. That's not too bad if I had to do it once or twice. But you want repeat users, right? You want people to access your database whenever they run into a word they don't know the meaning of. For instance, I could be having an online chatting when this situation occurs. Or I could be reading an article on a web site卭r simply doing my homework when unfamiliar words pop up. But you got to make this easy for users as much as possible. You see, we humans can get lazy sometimes and we'll simply skip over words if we can get by. If you have ever used "Quickshelf" by Microsoft, you will know what I mean. With this app, whenever I encounter a word I don't know (whichever application I might be using at the time), I simply highlight this word and click on "Quickshelf" Icon on the taskbar. This will bring up a small window showing the definition of that word. Now that makes me wanna lookup word every time because it doesn't involve me bringing up a browser, wait for it to load and then type in the URL (oh, what was that URL again? Tiger something?, and then type in the word. You get my point. I'm not saying your app has to be this fancy. But you can certainly be creative about it. On Windows, you can easily create an app that transparently makes a connection to your web site and access your database. This app will hide users from knowing what site to connect to. Even better, this app can be loaded from startup, so that it's a click away from the taskbar. And of course, you can even advertise in this window. In a way, through this app, you are providing an internet portal service to thousands of Chinese people who uses your indispensable tool. After all, whenever your are using a computer, you've got to deal with it in English at some point. And that's good news for you because your database can help those of us who needs that translation. I hope this all makes sense. It's hard to go into details at this level. Jeff Tu Software Developer Jefftu at geocities.com

Helloooooo, hxin, You have a great site, nice designing, friendly interface, supporting non-Chinese enviroment. Thank you very much, because it starts to provide help from today. BTW, If you have E-E dictionary, you will be popular. $500 is not a big one, if I have a good work one year later. PS. a rumor said an Indian's Hotmail had sold at one billion, right? What a great site! I have searched the web for hours and finally found this site. My electronic portable just broke today and I needed a translator to finish my homework. Your dictionary is wonderful. Thanks a lot! Maybe you can put SAT voc. list too. I have a C++ program which can show the English meaning and you type in the words, I think that will help remember the voc. We shouldn't use Chinese to remember the voc. but use English to remember is much helpful. Tell me if you want the program, so you can put it on this site and make it become much better!

I really regretted that you closed the Vacabulary part. If you used the vocabulary from Yu-Minhong's book, I suggest you contact with him. The best way to keep the Vacabulary part open is to get the approval from the original author by doing some deal with them. For example, if you get the GRE vocabulary from Yu-Minghong's book, you can put some advertisement of Yu's "New Oriental" school as the compensation for using his book. Or even you can get some financial support from him to sustain this good site.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would keep the image way of viewing the Chinese on, as I do not have the download that enables one to see the characters without the IMAGE version. Also- if you would put Chinese pronounciations of the characters right next to them, I could learn how to speak the language, not just just write it. Thanks a lot!
